Lab-Grown Diamonds

Real diamonds. Grown with science. Worn with pride.

Chemically Identical

Same carbon crystal structure as mined diamonds — indistinguishable even to gemologists without specialist equipment.

IGI / GIA Certified

Every Orvia diamond comes with a grading certificate from a world-leading gemological institute.

Eco-Friendly

No land excavation, no ecosystem disruption. Lab-grown diamonds have a fraction of the environmental footprint of mined diamonds.

Better Value

Lab-grown diamonds are 50–70% more affordable than mined equivalents, letting you get a larger, higher-quality stone for your budget.

What is a Lab-Grown Diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond — not a simulant, not an imitation. It is created in a controlled laboratory environment using advanced technology that replicates the natural conditions under which diamonds form deep within the Earth over millions of years.

The two primary methods are:

  • CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition): A diamond seed crystal is placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gas, which is then ionised into plasma, causing carbon atoms to deposit onto the seed and grow into a diamond.
  • HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature): Carbon is subjected to extreme pressure and temperature conditions that mimic the Earth's mantle, forming a diamond.

Are They Real Diamonds?

Yes — emphatically. Lab-grown diamonds are classified as diamonds by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). They are not:

  • Cubic Zirconia (CZ) — which is a synthetic simulant made of zirconium dioxide
  • Moissanite — which is silicon carbide
  • White Sapphire or other white gemstones

Lab-grown diamonds are the same mineral as mined diamonds in every scientifically meaningful way.

Grading & Certification

Every Orvia diamond is graded and certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute) or GIA (Gemological Institute of America). The certificate grades the diamond across the 4Cs:

  • Cut: How well the diamond is cut and its proportions
  • Colour: Rated D (colourless) to Z (light yellow)
  • Clarity: Presence of inclusions, rated FL to I3
  • Carat: Weight of the diamond

Your diamond certificate is included with every Orvia purchase. The certificate number is laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle for authenticity verification.

Important Disclosure: Resale Value

Lab-grown diamonds currently have a lower resale value compared to mined diamonds, as the technology to produce them has become more accessible over time. If you purchase Orvia jewelry primarily as an investment or with the intention of resale, please consider this carefully. Our jewelry is crafted for the joy of wearing, not primarily as a financial instrument.

Care Instructions

Lab-grown diamonds require the same care as mined diamonds:

  • Clean with mild soap and warm water using a soft brush
  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, bleach, or chlorine
  • Remove jewelry before swimming, exercising, or doing household chores
  • Store separately in a soft pouch or the original Orvia box to avoid scratching
  • Have professional cleaning done once a year
